About

My name is Debbie.

When I retired several years ago my motto was “Unlock your dreams and explore your new reality.”  I found some items with that quote at a local craft store a few months.  It spoke to me.  Before that my mantra was:  “I am ready to retire but not to be retired.”

I like the new quote better.  I guess that many of us who prepare for retirement approach it with mixed feelings.  I know I certainly have.  You see, for most of the last 20 years I loved Monday mornings!  I spent many years pursuing a vocation, a mission, a passion. I knew that I was doing what I was meant to do.  I was a teacher!

My retirement eventually took me in a direction I had not anticipated. I became an author and met some amazing people in the process of writing my book,

Conversations About Autism: Real-Life Experiences of Struggle, Acceptance, and Hope.
